The Incarnation is maybe a misguided doctrine

The Incarnation is misguided

The idea that a human can in any way be God or a God is probably nonsense.

I believe the whole concept of God or Gods to have major logical and rational flaws that mean it is basically inadmissible. This is the case on strictly rational ground.

Furthermore, even were God to exist in the conventional Judaeo-Christian sense of the word, it is probably nonsense to say that such a being could have anything to do with a human being.

A human could conceivably have a role to play that is in some way determined by God, but it is utter nonsense to say that a human is in any way the same thing as God.

The incarnation is NOT an essential part of Christianity. Jesus- who definitely existed - was a holy prophet.

Incarnational theology is not necessarily entirely misguided but it is not really relevant.
That's the point.

It is far easier to understand simple monotheism than the more complex monotheism of the Trinity.

I cannot see how it is necessary for the truth of Christianity for Jesus to have been God.

I like UNITARIAN CHRISTIANITY for many reasons.

Upon reflection, I would say that the Trinity as a doctrine is still  possibly MONOTHEISTIC - since it is supposed to be ONE GOD manifested in three ways.

But I have never really understood the necessity of this doctrine.

I have just visited the magnificent "Cathedral of the Marshes" in Blythburgh, Suffolk.

The Trinity is a form of MONOTHEISM - and is a MYSTERY; and meant to be a metaphor for the ineffable, unquanitfiable, unknowable mystery of GOD.
